Jewellery Summer School - 17th to 20th August 2017
The first annual (hopefully!) Jewellery Making Summer School is running from
Thursday 17th to Sunday 20th August
- and there are just three places left!
We will be covering a wide range of jewellery techniques from bangles, rings and chain making to Keum Boo (adding 24k gold to silver), casting scrap silver into ingots to recycle through the rolling mill and using a hydraulic press to create hollow forms, making the Summer School for everyone from complete beginners upwards. The small group setting with a maximum of 8 students will ensure that you get the attention you need to help you create beautiful jewellery - and learn wonderful techniques to use to continue creating afterwards!
This is your opportunity to learn the techniques you've always meant to add to your repertoire or to catch up on workshop topics that you have missed, and to do so at a fantastic workshop fee too. If there is a particular technique that you would like to cover then it is best to email me before booking to make sure it is something we can cover in the Summer School.
A day's Keum Boo workshop is usually £100. A bangle workshop is usually £75. A two-day course on learning to use the rolling mill is usually £180. Four days private tuition is usually £540. The four-day Summer School workshop fee is £250.
Tea, coffee, biscuits and cakes are included in the workshop fee, but lunch is not provided.
This workshop can be paid for in two installments of £125 by arrangement, with the balance paid by 1st August.
Date and Venue
10am-5pm Thursday 17th, Friday 18th, Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th August 2017 at The Sorting Office Studios, 37 Wells Road, Eastleigh, Hampshire. Full directions will be emailed.
Copper sheet for practicing sawing techniques are included in the workshop fee. Materials (sterling silver sheet and wire) are available for purchase on the day. The exact cost of the materials will be determined by the project or projects you choose to make. Details of the best materials to use in the class will be emailed before the workshop so that you can organise your own materials if you wish but I will have plenty for you to choose from. Cost of the silver is determined by weight.
Tools and Equipment
The workshop fee includes use of all the tools and equipment needed. All workshops include worksheets to take home with you and discuss tools, equipment, materials and health and safety considerations.
Cancellations of workshop places and private tuition bookings within two weeks of the event will forfeit the workshop fee/private tuition deposit unless I am able to find someone to take your place. Please let me know as soon as possible if you are unable to attend.
