Stone Set Stacking Rings Workshop - Saturday 21st September 2024

Start by learning how to make simple silver bands and then add a sparkling touch with beautiful faceted stone!

We'll be using the tube-setting technique to set gorgeous stones in a lovely contemporary style, and with a range of both stones and textures for the silver to choose from everyone will leave with a beautiful and unique piece of jewellery.

The class is perfect for beginners to jewellery making as it teaches many of the basic skills needed for more advanced skills, and is a great introduction to stone setting. However those with previous experience will also find their skills tested and improved by the end of the session. You will make three rings, and set a faceted stone on one of them.

14 to 16 year olds are welcome but will need to be accompanied by a paying adult.

Tea, coffee, biscuits and cakes are included in the workshop fee, but lunch is not provided. Please note that we are a peanut-free studio.

Date and Venue

10am-4.30pm Saturday 21st September 2024 at Fairways House, Mount Pleasant Road, Southampton Hampshire. Full directions will be emailed.

Materials

Materials are available for purchase on the day. The exact cost of the materials will be determined by the size and therefore weight of the ring you make and the price of silver on the day, and also the cost of the stone that you choose. However material costs for most rings in the range of £10-£15, and they would normally retail at between £40 and £60.

Tools and Equipment

The workshop fee includes use of all the tools and equipment needed. All workshops include worksheets to take home with you and discuss tools, equipment, materials and health and safety considerations.

Cancellations

Cancellations of workshop places and private tuition bookings within four weeks of the event will forfeit the workshop fee/private tuition deposit unless I am able to find someone to take your place. Please let me know as soon as possible if you are unable to attend.
